Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships help employees to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification. Equal to 5 GCSE’s at grades A-C, an Apprenticeship is made up of a number of parts, usually including:
- A number of additional NVQ units
- Key Skills (literacy, numeracy & IT)
- A Technical Certificate
All our courses include employment rights & responsibilities, learning what you can expect from an employer and what is expected of you. Click on the relevant subject below for more course-specific information.
NVQ level 2: is a work-based qualification that assesses the learner’s skills and knowledge. We identify areas needing improvement, carry out teaching & training to support the learner and then reassess to confirm the level now reached. (Click here for more detail on NVQ’s)
Key Skills: These are usually in subjects such as practical numeracy, communication (written/spoken English & team working) and IT. Prior achievement will be taken into consideration when deciding which key skills and at which level to include in the Apprenticeship.
Technical Certificate Level 2: These are test-based awards which have been designed to provide the knowledge and understanding relating to the given subject area.
Employment Rights & Responsibilities: This is a module that is included in all our Apprenticeships and gives a good understanding of employment law and the rules that you need to know at work.
Funding: In most cases Apprenticeships for 16-24 year olds are fully funded through the Learning & Skills Council. Funding is also available for most people aged 25+. |
